Engaging New Audiences: A Response to Non-Attendees’ Surveys Based on Best Practices
Abstract
This article connects the results of surveys completed by small city residents who rarely attend theatre with established practices in attracting new audiences across the nation in order to provide a comprehensive look at possibilities for engaging new segments of the community in professional theatre. In addition, it suggests fundamental questions that need to be addressed in any efforts to attract new demographics, emphasizing the distinct nature of each situation.
